Every small business owner with a triple net lease needs to have Proposition 15 on their radars because if it passes, it will trigger commercial property owners' property tax reassessment from as early as 1978. And beginning in 2022, you very well might be shouldering a portion of that increase if your landlord purchased the property over the last 3-4 decades when Proposition 13 originally was voted into existence.
If you're in retail, you're probably used to 5 or so weeks from Thanksgiving to Christmas, where holiday shopping is all that you live and breathe. Thanks to Amazon, who postponed their Prime Day(s) until this past week in mid-October, they've basically launched the holiday marketing time period so small businesses are now battling big box marketing budgets for the next 2.5 months. Not only that, shoppers have in some cases realized savings by not shopping so much as well as their shopping habits of just going online have skyrocketed.
It's time for you to pull out all the stops and ensure your holiday game plan is ready for anything as we enter what will surely be the most unpredictable holiday season. We encourage you to visit our recent Oakland and Monterey Peninsula episodes where we walk you through how to create a marketing plan as well as tips as to how to create one specifically for holiday. Plus check below, we have some webinars that will help you navigate this wild Q4 that's just started.
